Another Version of Jesus

“There he was transfigured before them, His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.” ~ Matthew 17:2 NIV.

The disciples knew Jesus, the son of God. They have seen him performing countless miracles which are beyond human reasoning. Multiplying the two fish and five loaves of bread and feed more than five thousand people, raising to life a four day old corpse. They were also witnesses to many signs, wonders and miracles but that was not all to who Jesus is. Jesus wanted to show them another version of Him; He isolated three disciples and took them to the mountain of transfiguration.

On this mountain they saw the transfigured Jesus they haven’t seen before. Here Jesus was with Moses, Elijah and the three disciples, then in the cloud of Glory father God bore witness about Jesus. But what was the purpose of all this? Did Jesus want to amaze them by the glory he had? Not really. He was showing them his glorious face so that they and all believers in Christ are called to transfigure into the very image he showed them on that mountain. That’s what 2nd Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.” –KJV.

There is no extra qualification needed to be transformed into the image of Christ apart from being a believer in Jesus Christ. If you are a believer, you are a candidate for this transformation. The Holy Spirit can transform you into the very image you are meant to resemble.
